Our Story: Building Community, One Day at a Time

tewanasa began with a simple belief: that growing older should mean growing closer to the people who care about you.

The tewanasa Story

tewanasa was founded in January 2018 by a group of families in Chiang Mai who saw their parents aging and wanted something better than the options available. They wanted a place that felt less like an institution and more like a neighborhood — a place where someone would notice if you didn't show up for breakfast, where your preferences mattered, and where daily routines felt familiar and comforting.

The name "tewanasa" comes from a Thai word meaning "gathering place," and that idea shapes everything we do. We designed our community around the rhythm of a traditional Thai village, where people know each other's names, share meals together, and look out for one another. Our residence sits on a quiet street near the Chiang Mai-Lamphun Road, with gardens, covered seating areas, and spaces designed for both social connection and quiet reflection.

Since opening, we have grown to serve over 40 residents and day program participants. Each person who joins our community brings their own story, preferences, and daily habits. Our care companions take the time to understand what makes each day meaningful — whether that's a morning walk in the garden, a preferred seat at the communal table, or a particular way of preparing tea.

We are not a medical facility. We are a community designed to make every day feel purposeful, connected, and known. We believe that aging well is about belonging, and we work every day to honor that belief.

Our Care Standards

Personalized Care Plans

Each resident has a personalized care plan developed in consultation with family members. We review and update these plans monthly to ensure they reflect current preferences and needs.

Safety Protocols

We maintain strict safety protocols including secure facility access, regular safety inspections, fire safety systems, and trained staff in basic first aid and emergency response.

Nutritional Standards

All meals are prepared fresh daily using locally sourced ingredients. We accommodate dietary restrictions, cultural preferences, and individual tastes. Our kitchen follows food safety protocols.

Privacy Respect

We honor each resident's privacy and personal space. Care companions knock before entering rooms, and personal information is handled confidentially according to privacy standards.

Family Communication

Families receive regular updates about daily activities, health observations, and any concerns. We encourage family involvement and welcome visits during operating hours.

Community Partnerships

We work with local healthcare providers, temples, and community organizations to ensure residents have access to medical care, spiritual support, and cultural connection.

Senior Care Rooted in Thai Community Values

tewanasa brings the warmth of traditional Thai village life to residential senior care in Chiang Mai. Our community operates on the principle that aging should be accompanied by belonging, not isolation. Each day at tewanasa is designed around familiar rhythms: shared meals prepared fresh from local markets, morning activities that honor Thai cultural practices, and afternoon gatherings where residents connect over tea and conversation.

Our approach to senior care emphasizes personal relationships over institutional protocols. Care companions are trained to understand individual preferences, morning routines, and the small details that make each person feel recognized and valued. We serve three meals daily using recipes familiar to Northern Thai cuisine, accommodating dietary needs while maintaining the flavors and presentations that evoke comfort and home.

Located on the Chiang Mai-Lamphun Road in Saraphi, our residence provides easy access for families visiting from throughout Chiang Mai province. The facility includes private and shared accommodation options, communal dining areas designed to encourage conversation, garden spaces for quiet reflection, and covered outdoor seating where residents gather during cooler morning and evening hours.

Families choosing tewanasa appreciate our commitment to transparent communication, monthly updates on daily experiences, and an open-door policy for visits during daytime hours. We coordinate with local healthcare providers for medical needs while focusing our own efforts on daily living assistance, social engagement, and creating an environment where residents feel known by name and valued as individuals.
